How long does it take?

For some people it’s 10 minutes, for others 30 minutes of actual shooting for one or two looks. Give yourself about an hour for a one-look session so we’ll have enough time to choose clothing and backdrops, and take the photos. If you’re adding a makeup artist or additional looks block out about 2 hours in your schedule.

How long until I get the photos delivered to me?

After a session you’ll get a link to an online proof gallery emailed to you typically within 24-48 hours. Delivery of retouched photos averages at about 5-7 days. A rush fee of $75 applies for a 24-hour turnaround of 1-5 retouched photos.

Do I need a make-up/hair artist?

Your headshot should look like your everyday you, but the best version of you, so do your hair and makeup like you normally do it. It’s best to go for natural-looking makeup, so if you have a hair and makeup artist at the session, he/she will talk to you about your everyday look and apply makeup to look natural, but more camera-ready than the regular/daily makeup we usually apply ourselves. The key for headshot makeup is subtlety. If you do your own hair and make-up, please be camera ready by the time I arrive, or if choosing the studio option,

Will you coach me into different poses and facial expressions?

You will be coached into several different poses and expressions to make sure we’ve got plenty of great photos with lots of options.

What are looks?

Looks are considered wardrobe changes. Along with the wardrobe I may change the lighting and backgrounds as well. Taking away a single item such as glasses or a jacket will still count as one look. 

Do you have a photography studio?

No. To keep prices reasonable I choose not to have the overhead of a studio. But if you’re not comfortable taking pictures at your house, apartment, office, or hotel, or you don’t feel there’s enough room, we can meet at a local studio. There are several options, both in Downtown LA and in the San Fernando Valley. There will be an additional charge of $60 if you choose a studio location, or $120 if you choose to have a hair and make-up artist at the studio (since that takes an additional two hours).

What to wear and not to wear?

Here are some do's and dont's—

Do's:

Solid colors are best. Jackets are the quickest way to make a change, and bright jewel colors can be eye-catching, especially when they compliment the eyes. For professional men, black, navy blue, and gray suits/jackets look best.

DONT'S:

Always avoid busy patterns like stripes, including pinstripes, or dots. It’s generally best to avoid yellows, as it can have unpleasant affects on the appearance of skin. It’s also not a great idea to wear all white, unless it’s more cream colored. Bright white tops tend to blow out under the lights and wash out the skin. But a dark jacket over a white shirt is just fine.  

How do we pay you? 

A nonrefundable $150 deposit is required before the shoot to hold your booking. The remainder can be paid by Credit/debit cards, Cash and Venmo on the day, or by email invoice if you prefer.

Rescheduling

We understand things happen and we try to rebook you if we can. We do require a minimum 48 hours notice for rescheduling and cancellation. Your deposit will be forfeit if we cannot re-book you.

Do you offer boudoir sessions?

Yes, I do occasionally offer boudoir sessions. For me, it’s a unique type of portraiture that utilizes a broader skillset, and requires a lot of finesse. Sessions may lean toward the traditional glamor end of the spectrum if you wish, or something a bit edgier, verging on fine art photography. Perhaps even a mix of the two. Sessions will run roughly 2 hours, either at your home or at a local hotel, and will include a hair and makeup artist to remain at the location for the duration of the shoot.
