Everyone needs a great headshot—actors and job seekers, authors, executives, personal trainers, real estate agents, and entrepreneurs. Investing in the right headshot photographer is the best way to get noticed. And what could be better than having that headshot taken by an experienced professional in the comfort of your own home, or the convenience of your office?
I love photographing in people’s homes. Almost everybody is more relaxed in a space they know well. You’re a lot less stressed when you’re wearing your favorite slippers or pajama bottoms, or surrounded by your creature comforts. Let’s face it, not everyone is comfortable getting their picture taken, but it’s become a necessity. The best headshots are when people look most natural and relaxed. A headshot should radiate confidence. The last thing you want is anxiety, stress, or tension showing up on your face.
Having your photographs taken at home also makes it easier for you to have a hair and makeup artist (or MUA) “on set” if you choose to hire one, since full hair and makeup can take up to two hours. You won’t have to pay any extra studio rental fees. If your MUA arrives a couple hours before I do, hair and makeup should be mostly complete before I’ve finished setting up my equipment. That allows us more time together to capture the perfect image. If you’re not comfortable doing your own hair and makeup, hiring a good MUA can make a big difference in the final product.
